Top Baseball Tours, So Far

Posted by Doug Lawson on Fri, Nov 23, 2012 @ 11:18 AM

We really never stop thinking about baseball. And it seems that there are several other folksBLT at Camden Yards who are the same way. By the time the World Series was over, MLB had already released their schedules for next season and we started putting together our luxury baseball vacations. So, for the first time, we announced our baseball tour schedules to the public in October. We have been pleasantly surprised at the number of die-hard baseball fans who have visited our website, signed up for our newsletters/updates, and purchased their 2013 baseball tours. Here is a list of the most popular Multi-City tours by number of bookings, so far:

  1. Atlantic Beltway Tour (NEW for 2013)
  2. East Coast Tour- "Touch 'em All Out East"
  3. Midwest Tour 1
  4. West Coast Tour
  5. Big Apple Tour 1
  6. Midwest Tour 2
  7. Southeast Tour

Are you thinking about baseball too? If you would to join us in 2013, or purchase a tour for a friend or family member, just give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.

Baseball Tour Videos On Line

Posted by Doug Lawson on Thu, Nov 15, 2012 @ 11:13 AM

Glenn and I spent Monday making informational videos for the website. We thought it would be a good idea to discuss all the aspects of our baseball tours in a video format. That way, prospective customers can get a better sense of our baseball vacation packages and who we are. I think they turned out pretty good. It's amazing what you can do with an Ipad and IMovie. We tried to go through the basic itinerary of each tour, and discuss some of the Big League Tours differences. We also took some time to talk about some of our favorite ballparks, like Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, AT&T Ballpark, and PNC Park. We're no Redford and Newman, but I think the informal videos will help fans make a decision as to which baseball tour they want to join.

The last tour video we shot was for the Big Apple Tour 2. It was late in the day, and we got a little loose with it. So, no offense to our Mets and Yankees fans, but we posted it anyway. I put it here too, so go ahead and take a look. It's all in fun. Go to the website too, to check out the other videos. We would appreciate any feedback you might have.

Big League Tours travel season in 31 photos- Midwest and HoF Tours

Posted by Kayla Wininger on Thu, Sep 27, 2012 @ 04:08 PM

Since joining the Big League Tours crew in early summer, I've had the amazing opportunity to lead two tours. The first time I was the co-pilot with Martha Ellen in Chicago/Milwaukee and the second I was flying solo with the group in New York, Boston and Cooperstown.

As the 2012 MLB season wraps up, I thought this would be a great time to share some of my favorite pictures from the trips this summer (I also threw in a few from the corporate outing we hosted). My iPhone is my best friend and I love snapping shots of absolutely anything and everything! FYI- My iPhone is far from professional so ignore some of the blurry stuff and just imagine the great times everyone was having!

Join me while I recount the amazing people I've met and wonderful places I've been thanks to Big League Tours.

There will be plenty of photos to come next year so stay tuned, hopefully your face will even be featured in a few! Sign up for our 2013 Tours and be the first to recieve the schedule once it's released!

Top 6 iPhone Apps For Baseball Fans

Posted by Kayla Wininger on Fri, Sep 21, 2012 @ 04:10 PM

If you’re anything like me, your app library needs a little spicing up every now and then.  With the release of the iPhone5 and iOS6 upgrade, I’ve been getting rid of old apps and downloading new ones that make my daily life just a little bit easier.  It got me thinking, “What apps are out there that would make diehard baseball fans go crazy?”  Here it comes, I’m throwing at you my Top 6 Apps for Baseball Fan (I couldn’t pick just 5):

6. iScore Baseball Keeper

Price: $9.99
Rating: 4.5/5 by 205 users

Keep track of your favorite MLB Teams stats or share your sons little league game with family members around the world.  Comparable to GameChanger, another statistic tracking app, iScore lets you go back at any time and change a part of the game.  You can also share your play-by-play with others, letting them watch the game from beginning to end.

5. Yahoo Fantasy Baseball ‘12

Price: Free
Rating: 4.5/5 by 2,903 Users

Described as the “Best fantasy app for MLB on the market” by iPhone user ZZZLoan, Yahoo Fantasy Baseball ’12 can perform most of the functions that you would use online.  It provides real-time fantasy updates, allows you to manage your lineup, track matchups, drop and add players and sends you breaking news on players.  Compared to other fantasy baseball apps, you’ll want to go with Yahoo!

4. Ballpark Envi

Ballpark Envi Screenshot
Price: $0.99
Rating 3.5/5 by 98 Users

If it’s your first time going to a stadium or you’re a history buff, make sure to download this app that includes all current stadiums as well as many past stadiums.  With pictures from around the stadium, you’ll get a great idea of the layout before game day.  Some stadiums also offer seating charts so you’ll know just where you’re sitting.  In addition to the images you’ll get plenty of info to learn more about the parks.  Looking to go on our Hall of Fame Tour?  Check out all of the old stadiums before visiting Yankee Stadium and Citi Field!

3. ESPN Radio

Price: Free
Rating: 3/5 by 155 Users

If you’ve previously ignored this app because of the cost, you no longer have to worry because it’s free!  Since August 20, 2012 ESPN Radio has allowed users to listen to SportsCenter, download podcasts and choose from more than 35 ESPN Radio Stations for FREE!  User reviews have been skyrocketing since the change but make sure you get it now because the free offer only lasts until December 31, 2012.

2. MLB Pre Play

Price: Free
Rating 4.5/5 by 14 Users

This app gives you a fun alternative to just texting your friends about the game.  Make your game predictions before they start or challenge a friend to a play-by-play game.  It’s a game within a game that’ll have you bragging about winning even if your team loses!  “When I’m at the ballpark with friends we do this all the time,” RonSwansong iPhone user said “especially with players we love or hate!”

1. MLB At the Ballpark

Price: Free
Rating: 3/5 by 92 Users

This is a must have when heading out to the ballpark!  Check-in when you get to the park and you’ll find some special promotions and deals that you may have otherwise missed.  Keep up-to-date with social media surrounding your team all from within the app.  My favorite feature?  If you’re in Philly, Houston, Phoenix or Miami, you can skip the line by ordering food from your phone, all you have to do is pick it up!  No delivery options yet, unfortunately.  More ballparks will likely be adding this optionin the near future.

So there you have it, my Top 6 Apps for Baseball Fan.  As the 2013 tour schedule is being hammered out, I’ll keep searching for ways to better improve your trip with Big League Tours and maybe by next year they’ll be delivering food to our seats!  Make sure to sign up for our 2013 tours and be the first to get the schedule when it’s released!

Didn’t see your favorite baseball app?  Share it with us in the comment section!

AT&T Park - West Coast Baseball Tour Part IV

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Mon, Jul 30, 2012 @ 08:15 AM

ATT Park entranceAtop most fans list of favorite baseball stadiums is San Francisco's AT&T Park. If it's not their favorite, it's almost always in their top five. And for good reason.

This ballpark is listed right in the middle of stadium sizes in the MLB, as the 16th largest. The way that the ballpark is configured makes it feel like one of the smallest, though. The feeling of intimacy at AT&T is one of its best features.

And speaking of features, this park is filled with plenty of unique features - the interesting angles and dimensions of the outfield, the view of the Bay, McCovey Cove, the Levi's mitt and Coca Cola bottle (with a slide in it) in the outfield, and the kids play area.

It's a great place to see a baseball game. They also offer one of the best stadium tours in the MLB if you can squeeze it in on your baseball trip.

There's still time to make plans to join Big League Tours on our 5-day Midwest Tour 2 that includes stops in Cincinnati, Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.  You'll enjoy lower level seats in each of the newer, fan-friendly ballparks and get an MLB player experience with former pitcher, and current Reds broadcaster, Chris Welsh.  As always, our hotels will be in heart of the cities within close proximity to the ballparks, shopping and restaurants.  This is a great mid-summer tour and we hope you will join us.  Click on the link below for all the details:

Major League Baseball Road Trip of the Week

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Fri, Apr 27, 2012 @ 05:37 AM

I've had in mind this idea of featuring players or teams that have a great week on the road, largely because I think the tie-in to baseball road trips that we offer is pretty cool. But if you've traveled for a week or two, you know how easy it is to get off your rhythm. Imagine doing that for six months and being expected to perform at your best. So here's our first Road Trip of the Week!

Rangers: The Rangers were absolutely on fire this week. They won eight games in a row on the road at Target Field, Fenway Park, and Comerica Park until finally losing to Detroit in the second game of their double header on Saturday.

Philip Humber: Doesn't get any better than perfect! This week Philip Humber became only theHumber reflects on perfect 21st pitcher to toss a perfect game. His perfecto came on the road while pitching at Safeco Field against the Mariners. Very classy ovation from the Mariners fans, too. (Incidentally, we had a group tour at US Cellular Field in 2009 when Mark Beurhle pitched his perfect game. What an amazing thing to witness!)

Reds 10,000th win: Dating all the way back to their membership in the American Association, the Reds closed out their 10,000th franchise victory while at Wrigley Field joining the Giants, Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals and Braves at achieving this milestone.

Congratulations to the players and teams featured this week. Since 2006, BLT has provided the ultimate baseball tours to fans who want to truly get inside the game by providing great seats, player appearances, behind-the-scenes stadium tours, special stadium access, and great travel accommodations. Plan your next baseball vacation with Big League Tours, the team that knows a great Road Trip!!

3 Great West Coast Baseball Tour Options for 2012

Posted by Doug Lawson on Tue, Apr 10, 2012 @ 01:47 PM
For the first time, Big League Tours is offering 3 different versions of our West Coast Tours.  You, our fans, asked for more West Coast options and we obliged with our full West Coast- Touch 'em All Out West Tour; the Baseball on the Bay Tour; and the Southern California Tour.  At every stop, we'll be staying in first class hotels, sitting in great lower level seats, and doing it up the Big League Tours way.

The BLT Group with Legend Vida Blue Each tour features
our exclusive Big League Tours Player Experience where our guests get to interact with a former major leaguer.  Check out this video to learn more about our Player Experience- Big League Player Experience Video.

Also for the first time, we've added in-tour flights.  We want to make sure our guests spend more time enjoying the great cities we visit and not spend countless hours on a bus like they would with other baseball tour companies.  So, we're flying from Seattle to San Fran, San Fran to LA, and San Diego to Phoenix.  It's all included in the tour price and we'll take care of the details.  Check out our videos about Sensible Itineraries and Tour Flexibility by clicking these links- Sensible Itineraries Video    Tour Flexibility Video
