West Coast Tour, May 2014: LA/Anaheim, San Diego, San Fran & Oakland

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Mon, Oct 21, 2013 @ 06:30 PM

An always popular baseball tour is a trip to the West Coast to see all of the California baseball stadiums plus Safeco Field in Seattle. And that's just what this tour has to offer. You'll have three nights in Los Angeles/Anaheim to take in a couple of games as well as explore some sites.

The first day of the tour, you'll see the Yankees play the Angels at Angel Stadium. We expect this to be a night game so you'll have time to get to the hotel, check in and get settled, and then meet the tour group to go to the ballpark.

Dodger Stadium,West Coast baseball tour,baseball trips,great seats

The next day is a completely free day. You could spend the day at Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm, take a tour of Hollywood, or hang out on the beach. It's completely up to you.

The following day offers a game at historic Dodger Stadium. You'll be amazed that this ballpark is over 60 years old! You'll arrive early with time to explore the stadium before settling into lower-level seats for the game. The last day in Southern California is in San Diego, where we'll stay in the Gaslamp Quarter and be there in plenty of time for a game at PETCO Park.

Then, on Saturday, it's off to San Francisco. It's a short flight and then you'll check into theAlcatraz, baseball trips hotel in the heart of the city. You'll have the evening on your own to explore the city, eat at a great restaurant, or just relax. On Sunday, the game is at AT&T Park between the Braves and the Giants.

Monday, you'll have more time to take in the Bay Area sites. This would be a perfect day to go to Alcatraz, take a trip up to wine country, visit Ghirardelli square, or take a ride on a San Francisco trolley. Then you'll meet up with the group to catch the game at the Oakland Coliseum between the Rays and Athletics.

The final day of the tour has you jumping on a quick flight to Seattle, taking in a game at Safeco Field, and staying at a hotel in the middle of the action in Seattle. Extend your stay in Seattle or plan to leave late in the day so that you can see the Space Needle, visit Pikes Place Market, or take in some beat poetry in ways that only Seattle can serve it up. Want some food suggestions? Let us know - we can help!

As always, you’ll enjoy first class hotels, lower level seats, stadium tours, an MLB player experience and memories that will last a lifetime. No tour company does it like Big League Tours. We hope you will join us on this extensive tour.

West Coast Luxury Baseball Tour

Our 2014 season is really starting to come together. Glenn and I have been scouring the MLB schedules to find the best combinations of games and stadiums for our tour packages. We are really excited about our West Coast Tour in June. It features the Rangers and Red Sox on the road, and we were able to add Seattle on the last day of the tour for a "FULL" West Coast experience.

We are offering the tour in condensed versions, too. You can choose the California Gold, Southern California, or Baseball on the Bay, if you want a shorter vacation.

Here are the links to the tour pages for all of the West Coast Tours in June. This is a special Sneak Peek for the fans in our database. These pages are not available to the general public, so you will have to get to them through these links. Thanks for taking a look.

Safeco Field & Pike Place Market - West Coast Baseball Tour Part II

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Tue, Jul 17, 2012 @ 10:00 AM

5 spotOur day started off by visiting the 5 Spot Cafe on Queen Anne. The menu was very inventive and the food was delicious. It was the perfect way to start off a full day of siteseeing and baseball tour activities!

We then took the bus down to Pike Place Market. We paid homage to the original Starbucks location and then walked the market. Witnessed the fish throwing that has become known around the world. Even bumped into Dustin Pedroia (the Red Sox were in town) at the market!

Safeco Field from seats

In the middle of the afternoon, we connected with our group at the hotel to officially kick off the tour. After they received their goody bags, we headed out to Safeco Field. This was the first time for all of our travelers to visit the stadium so we went early to give everyone time to take a look around.

Here's a view from our seats early in the game. About the middle of the 6th inning, it started to mist or rain a bit so they closed the roof. I had gone up to the upper deck to take some pictures and realized in just the last minute or two that it was closing.

Even if you take the train to Safeco as we did, I would recommend entering the stadium at 1st Avenue and South Royal Brougham Way. It's a much more inviting entrance and will give you a much better feel for the ballpark than any other entrance. It's much larger and also helps you avoid having to change levels to walk around to home plate.

Major League Baseball Road Trip of the Week

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Fri, Apr 27, 2012 @ 05:37 AM

I've had in mind this idea of featuring players or teams that have a great week on the road, largely because I think the tie-in to baseball road trips that we offer is pretty cool. But if you've traveled for a week or two, you know how easy it is to get off your rhythm. Imagine doing that for six months and being expected to perform at your best. So here's our first Road Trip of the Week!

Rangers: The Rangers were absolutely on fire this week. They won eight games in a row on the road at Target Field, Fenway Park, and Comerica Park until finally losing to Detroit in the second game of their double header on Saturday.

Philip Humber: Doesn't get any better than perfect! This week Philip Humber became only theHumber reflects on perfect 21st pitcher to toss a perfect game. His perfecto came on the road while pitching at Safeco Field against the Mariners. Very classy ovation from the Mariners fans, too. (Incidentally, we had a group tour at US Cellular Field in 2009 when Mark Beurhle pitched his perfect game. What an amazing thing to witness!)

Reds 10,000th win: Dating all the way back to their membership in the American Association, the Reds closed out their 10,000th franchise victory while at Wrigley Field joining the Giants, Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals and Braves at achieving this milestone.

Congratulations to the players and teams featured this week. Since 2006, BLT has provided the ultimate baseball tours to fans who want to truly get inside the game by providing great seats, player appearances, behind-the-scenes stadium tours, special stadium access, and great travel accommodations. Plan your next baseball vacation with Big League Tours, the team that knows a great Road Trip!!
