What makes Big League Tours Different?

I know several of you are considering the purchase of a baseball tour for the first time. Some of you have called to asked what makes our tours different. We certainly are not the cheapest tour provider out there, but we think we are the best. We are providing our guests with a bucket list, once in a lifetime, luxury baseball tour unlike any other. I would like to give you a couple of examples of the Big League Tours Differences.

One of the differences is the seats we get for you. All of our game seats are in the lower level, and usually between the bases. While that represents a significant expense, we think it is important to see the games from the best seats. Most other tour companies purchase group seats way down the lines or in the upper levels to save money. We are the only tour company to guarantee lower level seats for every game. Another difference is the kind of hotels we use. All of our tour hotels are either in the heart of the city, or next to the ballpark. Mostly they are 4-5 star luxury hotels like the Grand Hyatt in Midtown Manhattan, the Palmer House in Chicago, the Gaslamp Quarter Hilton in San Diego, and the Park Plaza in Boston. We won't bus you to the suburbs to stay in a 2-3 star hotel to reduce the cost. You'll be near all the sites, attractions, restaurants, etc. so you can enjoy the cities. Big League Tours Player Experience with Buck Martinez

Posted by Doug Lawson on Wed, Sep 25, 2013 @ 10:32 AM

On every Big League Tours luxury baseball vacation, we put together a meet and greet withGroup with Buck a former player on one of the tour days.  We were so pleased that Buck Martinez, former MLB player/manager and current Blue Jays broadcaster, was able to meet with us before the Yankees/Jays game at Yankee Stadium.

Yankee Stadium has its own Hard Rock Cafe inside the ballpark.  Our group took the easy subway ride to the ballpark and headed into the Hard Rock. But before the meet and greet, we experienced a little excitement at the Hard Rock.

While waiting on Buck to arrive, we all noticed that an elderly diner in the restaurant was experiencing some problems.  He was choking. His son was unsuccessfully performing the Heimlich maneuver and his father's facial color was changing rapidly.  Our tour guest Nancy (a nurse from Canada) quickly ran around to the man, lowered him to the floor, and thrust his abdomen up expelling the food that had been lodged in his throat.  Great job, Nancy!!

After things calmed down a bit, Buck began to speak to our group about his background and current position, as well as, his opinions on today's players and the game.  One of the great things about having someone like Buck Martinez is his insights into the current game.  As a broadcaster, he talks with the players and managers on a daily basis and sees many players/teams in his job.  This is the second time we have used Buck as our MLB Player Experience and we hope to have him back again in 2014.  He was great.

If you would like to join us on one of our tours in 2014, just click the link below and fill out the contact form.  We will add you to our mailing list and make sure you are one of the first to know about our 2014 schedule.

Inside the Green Diamond Gallery: Cincy's Baseball Hall of Fame

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 @ 09:37 AM

I had the privilege of attending an event at the Green Diamond Gallery in Cincinnati. I have had several Cincy locals tell me that I needed to get up there but just hadn't had theView of the Green Diamond Club opportunity to do so. Boy, were they right!

Here's how their website describes the gallery:

"The Green Diamond Gallery houses a breathtaking array of high-end baseball memorabilia dating back to the late 1800s.

Marvel at the Hall of Fame Wall with photos and autographs of almost every inducted Hall of Fame member.

Travel back to the founding of the Cincinnati Reds, re-live the team’s World Championships, and get information about our hometown’s greatest ball players through an incredible Reds Timeline.

Gaze at hundreds of autographed and mounted baseballs from greats like Mantle, Ruth, Morgan and Bench.

Browse vintage and current baseball books and magazines in our Library.

In addition, you’ll find:

Hundreds of game-used baseball bats

Game-worn jerseys, including jerseys from defunct teams and Hall of Famers

Seats from stadiums old and new

One-of-a-kind documents dating back to the 19th century

Thousands of historical photographs depicting the greats of the game

Signatures and photos from some of the most talked-about scandals in baseball, including Shoeless Joe Jackson and the 1919 Black Sox

And much, much more!"

Much more is right. What kept running through my mind while I was there was that the Hall of Fame wallgallery felt like Cooperstown had been brought to the best "man cave" ever conceived. It's hard to fathom the depth of the private collection. For instance, check out the picture to the left.

The wall is covered with photos of every Hall of Famer arranged by the year they were admitted to Cooperstown, and most have their autograph included, too. How incredibly amazing is that??

So for all of you who ever suggested that I should make a special trip to the Green Diamond Gallery, I now know that you weren't exaggerating a bit. And for those of you who haven't been, you'll now have to listen to me encourage you to get there as soon as you can. It's a great experience. In fact, one that we hope to incorporate on our trips through Cincinnati!!
